Weird YouTube Channels
Up until lockdown 1 I never really used YouTube much although even I got taken in by the Julien Faubert highlights reel when he signed for us.

Having the YouTube on the ipad whilst working from home has provided some respite from the boredom of working alone. For example I always watch the daily West Ham Chat video by Gonzo but one thing I have been fascinated with is the number of weird specialist channels which have tens of thousands of subscribers churning out videos with as many views. Here are a few that I cannot stop myself from selecting from my home screen.

Auditing Britain - A wind up merchant who initially attracts attention by loitering outside, videoing public buildings (mainly police stations) usually resulting in the arrival of the police officers who he proceeds to wind up and humiliate by exercising his right to not give them his details. I can kind of understand why the police get fucked off with him though.

Karens In the Wild - Compilations of self entitled (mainly women) who demand to speak to the manager. Many of the latest ones are facemask related.

CyclingMickey (thanks to Hallerin the morning for reminding me of this one on the Indicator thread) - A vigilante cyclist with a go pro camcorder who records motorists breaking the highway code mainly in the Hyde Park area. He often obstructs their path until they back down and reverse back to the point of breaking the code. Also records motorist driving whilst using phones. All of his videos are submitted to the authorities which he later checks the progress online. Claims to have resulted in tens of thousands in fines and hundreds of endorsement points.

Rate My Takeaway - A loveable fat yorkshireman who has accumulated a remarkable 200k+ subscribers over a couple of months who does exactly who the channel's title suggests. Carries a fold up table and chair that he sets up on the street to do his review.

Videos I don't get are all these "Unboxing" ones. Why would I want to see that? Using the actual product I get but I dont give a fuck about how it comes out of the sealed packaging. Also football match watchalongs....Euro96er, modern football is fucking shit bollocks,

What are your YouTube guilty pleasures / hates?

I watch a lot of You Tube but hate the adverts, especially the ones in the middle, yes I know you can pay a premium to watch without them!

I watch a fair bit of Gonzo's stuff and have seen quite a few of Russ's Hammers favourite 11 videos. Obviously some good old music on there and I like watching some of the old sports stuff, not just football, but athletics and tennis highlights from years gone by. Coe v Ovett, McEnroe v Connors that sort of retro, we were young once sort of thing! Joe Rogan used to be worth a watch but I think he moved to another platform.

Stumble across silly bits like a Robin Williams or Leslie Nielsen with his fart machine on an old chat show and in these days of much seriousness having thirty minutes of laughing like a schoolboy does me the world of good!

I like Geo and Gonzo, proper West Ham and seem like decent fellas.

As for my picks.

Podcasts:

Shaun Attwood - Blokes a bit weird, but I like his True Crime series.

Joe Rogan - Mainly Spotify now, but his clips selections are still good.

Sport, excluding West Ham.

Off the Ball - An Irish sports station, mainly for Irish interest, but there's a lot of UK stuff on there two and some really good content. I found them after Rice declared for England, and it was a video of Kevin Kilbane having kittens. Boo hop

Street Beefs - Amateur MMA fights in peoples backyards. You can the fighters have trained and the scraps are decent. Baby Hulk and the Iraqi Assassin are two fighters I've come across mostly.

Scottish football calls - Radio phone in station. I like Jock football, and I've enjoyed the Celtic callers recently.

Miscellaneous

Binkovs Battlegrounds - Hypothetical look at war between counties

Mrwhostheboss - Tech reviews

Jim Browning - Bloke mugs online scammers off

CharlieBo313 - Drives around the roughest parts of the US. Cheers Simon S

I watch a lot of FISHING channels, magnificent way to pass the time.

AFRICAN REBEL is also magnificent to watch, who usually gets racially abused, so he hacks them finds out where they live and pretends to be Joseph Koney and scares the living shit out of them. Quite funny to watch.

I've done a BRANDED and climbed several mountains via YouTube over lockdown.

Re: Weird YouTube Channels
"Channel 5 with Andrew Callaghan" is pretty good as well, if you like to see the dregs of both political sides in 'mercia.

He used to be in All Gas No Brakes, which are again worth watching.

Wilderness Cooking - weird bloke in Azerbeijan who lights fire and cooks huge chunks of meat dishes. Super!

Bald and Bankrupt - bloke from brighton travelling around the old soviet bloc

Mark Dice - american media and politics commentator

A bloke building a log cabin in Sweden (can't remember the name) for the last two years

A bloke who builds underground houses and pools in south america using just one hand tool

Old west ham matches (can't remember who the channels are)

Re: Weird YouTube Channels
Its not a "weird" channel, but Joe Rogan's 4 hour podcast with Alex Jones is one of the most entertaining things I have seen in my life. I'm surprised it's even still up on youtube.

Yes that Wilderness Cooking is superb (even though I'm a vegetarian). He doesnt say a word.

Thanks to tips from YouTube demo videos, I've done a lot of jobs around the house and on the car I would have normally paid to have done. I reckon I've saved around £500.

I do get those, especially ones featuring really nice guitars. The NGD (new guitar day) is usually an infrequent and treasured day amongst guitarists, so I understand the desire to share in the excitement of unwrapping such a thing for the first time.

I suppose many are watched by kids at a stage of life where they can only dream of the object being unwrapped too (I'd have been an avid viewer 30 years ago).

Vicarious pleasure I suppose?

Woodford

I also like to sometimes watch the streetfood videos, especially from Korea and Japan. I'm amazed they live past 40 in korea.

The YouTube channel Nick Crowley has done a fair few overview videos of the darkest channels and otherwise weirdest content on the site.

Baldandbankrupt also a favourite of mine.

I'd like to throw SoftWhiteUnderbelly into the mix. Guy interviews the otherwise would be forgotten in the US. Very educational but not for watching if you're on a downer.

I also quite like watching spoonclank, but it takes me quite a while to get past his extremely objectionable appearance and obsession with cats.

Adrian Milward - Does excellent motorsport retrospectives, which I enjoy BUT also is an experienced SIM racing driver and gets big numbers for him driving various SIM cars, around SIM tracks. (A bit weird)
